Massage has been found to improve circulation, joint range of motion and flexibility. It can reduce many common ailments such as stress, muscle tightness, aches and pains - even anxiety and depression. Recent studies also suggest it can boost immunity. Sports massage, a much deeper treatment, is used to focus on specific injuries. Aromatherapy oils complement the treatment bringing relaxation and relief from pain.
During your visit to Meltage you will have a 15 min free consultation to determine your requirement. Peter will customise the treatment to meet your need; it can be slow and firm or a more gentle relaxing treatment. Peter draws on an array of techniques learnt over many years. If you have a specific injury or painful muscle Peter will be happy to assess and make recommendation on treatment or a course of treatments. When a muscle or muscle group becomes traumatised the muscle shortens to compensate. Relieving traumatised muscle is a two stage process; releasing the point of trauma and secondly restoring the muscle length. Peter may recommend stretching exercises to restore muscle length. Whilst Peter will be happy to work on one area only it should be noted that muscles rarely work in isolation. A full body treatment ensures restoring balance to the whole body. Meltage is not a one stop fix, it could be that you will need more than one treatment to feel real benefit. Regular massage is an excellent way to keep muscles in shape and avoid painful spasms. Meltage offers discount for a course of treatments.
Peter has experience working alongside physiotherapist in post-operative recovery. Whilst massage may not always address the root cause it can, in many long term conditions, alleviate the symptoms. Peter has successfully worked with clients suffering from multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue syndrome (ME), arthritis, motor neurones and rheumatism. The luxury treatment room couch is motorised and can be lowered to assist those with mobility issues.
Do I need to prepare; what happens during; what happens after.
