One of the keys to muscle health and post injury restoration is Stretching. 

When a muscle experiences trauma it will shorten causing pain.  The aim of sports therapy is to ultimately, by massage and manipulation, restore the muscle to its full length.  Massage alone will not achieve this. It is important to stretch following massage treatment to aid the restoration process.
